sVo Against All Odds #017

The Victory Cup kicks off with the first set of 1st round matches!

sVo Against All Odds
Goodfellas Casino Arena
Sunday 27th June 2021

As the package begins to come to an end, the live camera shows a shot of the outside of the Goodfellas Casino, sitting on the heart of the Las Vegas strip before heading inside and panning around the sold-out Goodfellas Casino Arena inside. Fireworks begin to shoot up from the top of the entrance ramp as fans jump out at the camera trying to get their face on TV as the atmosphere for tonight’s show continues to build, with the music playing over the arena’s sound system.

The camera swings around to see the commentary team of Julian Fiasco & Jeremiah Sloan sitting at ringside, before turning to show the giant screen at the top of the entrance ramp as some of the matchups for tonight’s show are shown.

Hiro Ryuu vs. Flip Dixon

‘Starman’ by David Bowie hits the sound system and the fans rise to their feet as the mysterious Hiro Ryuu slowly steps out onto the top of the entrance ramp. Ryuu drops to his knee and raises a finger in the air for a few seconds before slowly pointing his finger down towards the ring. Ryuu then rises to his feet and walks slowly to the ring and rolls under the bottom rope. Ryuu climbs to the second rope of the nearest turnbuckle and looks out at the crowd before backflipping to a standing position in the ring!

The familiar riff of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck fills the arena. As the pyro goes off on the entranceway however it is not the reigning sVo Las Vegas Champion that steps out onto the entrance ramp however, instead it is his son Flip Dixon! The skinny Flip Dixon taunts to the intrigued fans, who respond with cheers, before Dixon sprints down the entrance ramp and slides head first into the ring! Dixon climbs to the second rope of the nearest turnbuckle and poses for the fans again!

With both competitors in the ring, the referee calls for the bell to be rung and the action to officially get started! Ryuu and Dixon circle around each other in the middle of the ring for a few seconds, before Ryuu lands some stiff kicks to the leg of his opponent. The youngster Dixon fires back with some right hands of his own, but Ryuu absorbs them before grabbing his opponent by the arm and shooting him into the ring ropes. Dixon bounces back into the middle of the ring and Ryuu takes him down to the mat with an impressive spinning heel kick. Dixon quickly rolls to a standing position and turns to run at Ryuu, but Ryuu uses his own momentum against him as he takes him down with a flapjack. Proud Papa

The cameras head backstage where Gunner Lang is closely watching the monitor where his son Flip Dixon has just put on an impressive showing against Hiro Ryuu in the Victory Cup first round match, despite coming up just short.

Lang has a proud look on his face as he nods his head whilst watching the action, the Las Vegas Championship belt glistening on his shoulder under the lights. Lang continues to watch the screen, however soon turns around as he feels a presence to his left, a presence which is that of Johnny All Star, his fellow Horizon stable mate.

Lang stares at All Star, clearly not happy to see him after what went down at the Roll the Dice PPV and the last episode of Against All Odds.

Johnny All Star: “Quite a performance from the kid out there….”

Lang says nothing, as he stares back at All Star angrily.

Johnny All Star: “Such a shame he didn’t get through, would have been nice for you two to fight in the final or something. Who you got tonight again?”

Lang breaths deeply as he continues to stare down All Star.

Gunner Lang: “I asked you to stay away from my match last time out, but you didn’t listen and you cost me the DQ against Washington. Now I am telling you, stay the hell away from my match tonight or else….”

All Star stares back for a few seconds, before reluctantly nodding his head.

Johnny All Star: “Sure champ, whatever you say.”

Lang pushes past All Star and makes his way out of the scene, as Johnny All Star takes a few seconds to watch the screen, before scoffing as the scene fades out.

The crowd continue to boo Nathan Judge as he stands tall in the ring looking ready for the match to begin.

Judge comes out on top of the test of strength and he pushes Dreamer backwards, before whipping him into the ring ropes. Dreamer bounces back into the middle of the ring and Judge takes him down with a clothesline.

The fans boo loudly towards Nathan Judge, but he waves them away before pulling Dreamer back up to his feet. Ready & Waiting

After the victory for CJ Dreamer over Nathan Judge, the camera switches to the backstage area where Katie Smith is standing by in the interview area, microphone in hand, with the current sVo Heavyweight Champion!

The crowd quickly cheer upon seeing William Vorheez on the big screen, with the big gold sVo Heavyweight Championship belt still hanging from his shoulder.

Katie Smith: “Well Champ, thank you for joining us here tonight. I guess the first question is how are you after the Roll the Dice Championship defend against Yoshi Ono?”

Vorheez instinctively holds his ribs in pain as he is asked the question and thinks back to the hard hitting match against Ono at the PPV.

William Vorheez: “Well the doctors are still not too happy about me being here, but I am the sVo Heavyweight Champion since the year 2013 and I certainly am not about to give this belt up on a technicality. If Page has an opponent for me then I am here to fight them, no matter what the doctor says.”

Vorheez looks at the title belt on his shoulder as he speaks.

Katie Smith: “Well after the Organised Chaos match it does seem that your next opponent will be none other than Johnny All Star. How do you feel about the way he went about getting his shot at you?”

William Vorheez: “I go way back with All Star, we headlined PPV’s together so I know he will be a threat. As far as how he went about it, it just proves the point of why I roll solo right now.”

Katie Smith: “Well All Star seemingly patched things up with Horizon last time out, how do you feel about your third challenge in a row with back up when you don’t have anyone in your corner?”

William Vorheez: “After seeing how Johnny All Star treats his back up, I feel pretty good about it. All Star knows how to get ahold of me, if he is the next challenger then he just needs to name the time and place and we will do this thing. Screw what the doctors say.”

Vorheez taps the Championship belt that is hanging from his shoulder, before walking away to signal the end of the interview.

Victory Cup First Round Match
Anthony Moretti vs. Kyle McRae

With the newcomer Kyle McRae already in the ring, ‘Woke Up This Morning’ by A3 hits the sound system and the fans boo as the gold lights flash around the arena. After a few seconds, Anthony Moretti steps onto the entrance ramp with his hands in the air. Moretti slowly makes his way down the ramp towards the ring, ignoring the boos of the fans. Anthony Moretti cockily steps up onto the ring apron, before climbing through the ropes and into the ring. Acting like the superstar he thinks he is, Anthony Moretti raises both hands in the air, however receives nothing but boos from the fans.

The referee calls for the bell to be rung, and this first round match up is under way with McRae looking to cause the upset in his first sVo match against the former sVo Heavyweight Champion Anthony Moretti! Moretti smirks as he stares across the ring at the newcomer, before inviting him to come and get the first punch free of charge!

Moretti lands some more knee strikes to McRae, before taking him down to the mat with a snap suplex. Moretti bounces into the ring ropes and drops an elbow into the chest of his opponent, before making yet another cover.

However as Moretti continues to argue with the referee, the fans begin to cheer as Kyle McRae slowly begins to rise up to his feet behind his back! Moretti finally turns around, and McRae drills him with a standing dropkick to the face! The fans cheer for the big move, as Moretti stumbles back up to his feet but is nailed with some big kicks from the newcomer. McRae backs Moretti into the corner of the ring with his kicks, before stomping away on his opponent! McRae grabs hold of Moretti by the arm and sends him corner to corner, before following up with a big clothesline!

Moretti climbs up onto the second rope himself, before landing the ‘Hitman’ on McRae off of the turnbuckle! The fans boo loudly despite the impressive move, as Moretti makes the cover.

One,

Two,

Three!

It’s all over, and despite a good showing in his first match from Kyle McRae, it is Anthony Moretti who picks up the victory! Moretti rises up to his feet and laughs at the referee who tries to raise his arm in the air in victory. Moretti instead pushes the referee away, before climbing to the second rope of the nearest turnbuckle and soaking in the boos from the crowd.

The Victory Cup Continues!

Backstage
Sorry, Not Sorry

The cameras head backstage where an unlucky Kyle McRae is walking through the corridors after coming up short in his first sVo match only a few moments ago against the former sVo Heavyweight Champion Anthony Moretti. McRae looks disappointed to have lost, but within a few seconds a crowd of backstage staff and wrestlers has formed around the newcomer, all congratulating him on a good first showing and letting him know that he was unlucky out there tonight.

The support seems to boost the mood of McRae, however the crowd quickly melts away as five other figures walk onto the scene and surround the Scotsman. Those five figures being the sweaty Anthony Moretti who is still in his ring gear, and the suited and booted figures of Joe Barone, Money Malone, JVD and Lucy Von Drake.

McRae quickly sees what is up from reading the looks on their faces, and puts his hands up to fight.

Kyle McRae: “I see, you want some more. Come on then!”

Moretti looks at the rest of Blood Money and laughs before shaking his head.

Anthony Moretti: “Listen kid, I am the biggest star in the sVo. I can’t have some kid in his first match not going down for the count and making me work for the victory. It’s nothing personal ok but I gotta make an example….”

Moretti holds out his hands in a pleading gesture, as if saying ‘sorry, what can I do…’

Kyle McRae: “I ain’t afraid of any of you, bring it on.”

Anthony Moretti: “Oh sorry, you misunderstand. We aren’t going to get our hands dirty with small fry like yourself.”

McRae looks confused, but from behind him the massive figure of Athena approaches, and spins him around.

Athena: “I’m sorry, I got no choice.”

Athena lifts McRae up into the air with ease with one hand, before chokeslamming him onto the concrete floor! Moretti and Blood Money watch on as Athena puts the boots to the youngster, looking conflicted about it the whole time. Finally Moretti raises a hand to signal that he has seen enough, before Blood Money turn and walk away in unison.

Kyle McRae looks motionless on the floor, as Athena again apologises, before making off in an opposite direction looking upset with herself.

Victory Cup First Round Match
Gunner Lang vs. HyperNova

The familiar riff of AC/DC’s Thunderstruck fills the arena. As the pyro goes off on the entranceway Gunner Lang explodes onto the entrance ramp shooting off his own pyro from a gun while the sVo Tron shows Gunner and a band playing his entrance music. The fans are on their feet cheering and shout ‘Gunner’ along with the song. Gunner drops the pyro gun and runs down to the ring slapping hands with the fans and giving devil horns. He slides into the ring under the bottom rope and proceeds to take off his shirt and bandanna throwing them into the crowd.

Sash! – Encore Une Fois hits the sound system and the arena fills with boos as the young French star HyperNova steps out onto the top of the entrance ramp, with his manager Victoria Isabel Patience by his side. Flashlights go off up and down the entrance ramp as HyperNova marches down towards the ring as if he is on a fashion runway. Victoria Isabel Patience slowly walks behind him as HyperNova stops just short of the ring, and poses for the nearest camera. The boos continue as HyperNova slowly climbs into the ring, before using the nearest turnbuckle as a hammock and relaxing with his feet up on the ropes.

The referee calls for the bell to be rung and the match is quickly underway as HyperNova runs at Gunner Lang and lands some big right hands on the Las Vegas Champion. The fans boo HyperNova, but Lang quickly fights back with some right hands of his own before knocking the Frenchman down with a big head butt. HyperNova staggers up to his feet holding his face in pain, but Lang grabs him by the arm and shoots him into the ropes, before taking him down with a big boot.

VIP cheers on her client from ringside, but Lang follows up with a scoop slam in the middle of the ring, before grabbing hold of his leg and tries to twist him over into a Boston crab submission hold. However HyperNova uses his leg strength to kick away his opponent and rise up to a standing position. HyperNova tries to get back into the match with a spinning heel kick, but Lang ducks under the leg of his opponent before taking him down to the mat with a release suplex! However with the referee’s back turned & the Las Vegas Champion distracted, it gives HyperNova the chance to land a low blow on Gunner Lang!

Lang limps around, as HyperNova climbs to his feet and follows up by dropping the Las Vegas Champion on his head with a DDT. Lang holds his head in pain as HyperNova taunts to the fans, before landing some big stomps onto the body of his opponent. Lang struggles up to his feet, still feeling the impact of the low blow, before HyperNova quickly lands some stiff knife edge chops to back him into the corner of the ring. The fans cheer for the big move from Lang, who follows up on HyperNova with a Military Press Slam! With HyperNova down, the fans cheer as Lang grabs the legs of his opponent and locks in a sharpshooter!

The fans continue to cheer as the referee asks HyperNova if he wants to tap, as he screams out in pain! HyperNova tries to edge his way closer to the ropes, but Lang keeps the move on tight! It looks like HyperNova might have to quit due to the pain, but before he can VIP once again leaps up onto the ring apron! The referee again tries to restrain VIP from getting into the ring, and with his back turned he doesn’t see HyperNova tap to the pain! The crowd boo loudly as VIP does a good job of keeping the referee distracted as HyperNova continues to tap! Gunner Lang has finally seen enough, as he drops HyperNova and marches over to the referee and VIP! VIP quickly jumps down off of the ring apron and holds her hands up in surrender, as Gunner Lang tries to explain to the referee. As Lang remonstrates with the official that he should have already won the match, HyperNova lands a desperation dropkick from behind that takes out Lang but also the referee!

With both men and the referee down, the fans boo loudly as VIP marches around to the time keepers area and grabs hold of the Las Vegas Championship belt! VIP climbs into the ring with the belt and looks like she is ready to nail Gunner Lang with his own title! VIP waits for Lang to get to his feet, but as she does, there is a mixed reaction from the crowd as Johnny All Star runs down the entrance ramp!

All Star slides into the ring and grabs hold of the Las Vegas Championship belt from VIP! VIP scrambles out of the ring in fear, but as All Star holds the belt, he suddenly smirks and turns to wait for HyperNova to get to his feet! Both men slowly begin to get to their feet, but as All Star runs at HyperNova and tries to take his head off with the gold, HyperNova ducks and All Star blasts Lang in the face!

All Star drops the belt in shock, but the referee calls for the bell having seen the whole thing! HyperNova bails out of the ring and retreats up the entrance ramp with VIP, both looking upset at not getting the win, but wanting no part of All Star.

All Star stands over the knocked out body of Gunner Lang, clutching the Las Vegas Championship belt in his hand. All Star looks shocked at the accidental KO of his Horizon team mate, before the look of shock makes way for a sick smile across his face!

All Star smirks and drops the belt down onto the chest of Lang, before bailing out of the ring and making his way up the entrance ramp, the fans booing their former home town hero as the show heads off of the air!

Winner via DQ: Gunner Lang
